here are some of the stamps i sorted this week. i like looking at the postmarks.

POSTCARD FROM MALMÖ sent by: lars | date: may 2008 "hi lacey the rink here is bigger than ours but the ice is bad. i found three stamps at a flea market today. here is a postcard of the square. bye"

old cards found in thrift shops, attics, or old bookshops.

OLD TALLINN POSTCARD found in: attic box | date: unknown (old) it has a green 1980s postmark on the back but the ink is smeared. you can see the old towers. it smells like dust.

HELSINKI HARBOUR (1964) found in: old bookshop | date: august 1964 the front shows old steam ferries. the back has a message written in very neat, tight cursive handwriting.

seasonal cards sent during the winter months.

WINTER LANDSCAPE CARD sent by: aunt elina | date: december 2005 just a snowy pine forest with a small red house. she always sends these. the stamp has a snowy owl on it.

cards i bought myself because i liked the picture.

VINTAGE HOCKEY RINK POSTCARD status: blank | acquired: sports store sale an old photo print of an empty outdoor rink in winter at dusk. i wanted to keep it clean so it stays in my desk drawer.
